White gold: purity, price and value
White gold does not have a separate commodity market price. It is gold alloyed with other metals to create a lighter-coloured material. So the value of the gold itself still comes back to purity.
Does white gold have its own gold price?
No. There is no separate "white-gold spot price" alongside the gold market price. If a white-gold item is 18K, its gold content is the same 75% purity basis used for other 18K gold. If it is another karat, use that purity instead.

18K white gold contains approximately 75% gold and may be marked 750. Its estimated underlying gold value can therefore be calculated as: weight × 0.75 × current pure-gold reference.

Why does white-gold jewellery cost more than the metal value?
Because the piece is jewellery. The final retail price can include alloying/manufacturing, workmanship, design, stones, finishing/plating where applicable, retailer margin and GST. The metal-value calculation doesn't attempt to capture those elements.

Is white gold worth less than yellow gold?
Colour alone does not determine the underlying gold value. If two items have the same gold weight and purity, their theoretical gold-content value is similar. The finished jewellery prices can still differ because they are different products. Compare with yellow gold and rose gold.
What happens when you sell white gold?
A gold buyer will usually focus heavily on fineness, payable weight, recoverable gold and non-gold components. You should not assume that the original premium paid for design, brand or jewellery finish will be recovered.
