- ·MISSING_PRICE — price omitted or zero; never coerced to 0.
- ·MALFORMED_TIMESTAMP — invalid ISO-8601; observation rejected.
- ·NEGATIVE_PRICE — fails validation.
- ·PRODUCT_MAPPING_UNVERIFIED — SKU not yet mapped to a canonical product.
- ·STALE_OBSERVATION — older than your declared max-age; retained but not current.
- ·DUPLICATE_PAYLOAD — idempotent; no duplicate observation created.
Timestamp rules
- ISO-8601 with timezone offset (UTC recommended).
- source_timestamp is when you observed the price, not when we ingested it.
- Future timestamps are rejected (unavailable state).
- A browser refresh never changes observed_at — history is immutable.
Comparison-eligibility rules
- Commercial relationship does not determine organic comparison eligibility or ordering.
- Missing price is never converted to zero.
- Corrections preserve the original observation (append-only lineage).
- Same weight + fineness does not mean same product — refiner and form are preserved.
- An out-of-stock observation cannot masquerade as a purchasable winner.
- A stale observation is retained for history but removed from current winner eligibility.
