14K gold price Singapore

14K gold is commonly associated with the 585 fineness mark. Strictly, 14K means 14 parts gold out of 24, or about 58.33% gold, while 585 means 58.5% gold. For an actual item, use the fineness mark stamped on the jewellery where available.

This is the approximate value of the gold content, not the final price of a 14K jewellery item.

    What does 14K mean?

The karat system divides purity into 24 parts. 14K means 14 of those 24 parts are gold. 14 ÷ 24 is approximately 58.3%. Commercial fineness markings commonly use 585, representing approximately 58.5% gold.

Is 14K the same as 585?

They are commonly used for the same jewellery purity class, but the numbers are not mathematically identical. Strict 14K = 14 ÷ 24 ≈ 0.5833. 585 fineness = 0.585. Where an actual hallmark is present, use that specific mark when calculating value.

How do you calculate the value?

    For an item marked 585: weight × 0.585 × pure-gold reference. For strict 14K: weight × (14 ÷ 24) × pure-gold reference. For a 10g item marked 585: 10 × 0.585 × current pure-gold reference. Try it yourself with the calculator below.

This estimate reflects the underlying gold content. Actual dealer offers can differ based on product type, testing, condition, resale demand and dealer margin.

Why can jewellery cost much more?

At 14K, less of the item's total weight is gold than in 18K, 22K or 999 jewellery. But that doesn't make the jewellery price simply proportional to gold content. A finished piece may include design, workmanship, stones, brand margin and GST.

What is 14K worth when selling?

Start with the estimated gold value. Then the buyer may adjust for verified purity, non-gold components, payable weight, refining and buying spread. Use the calculation as a benchmark before requesting quotes.
